Friday, November 23rd, 2018 our second Volunteering day was held at Maple Hill School. Students arrived early to enjoy a day of the workshop in the theme Volunteering to build an eco-friendly and friendly society.
Through a series of thought-provoking videos, small group discussions, students and teachers were able to lay the foundations for an MHS Volunteering Program.
This program will enable students to participate in different activities that will help them nurture their interests, practice their skills, apply relevant knowledge and discover career pathways, all through selfless giving of time and energy to help build solidarity and social justice. Students showed enormous interest in participating in volunteering venues like Science World, the Vancouver Aquarium, The Vancouver Public Library, Cultural events, Food banks, etc. We embrace our students’ interests and soon will be putting together a comprehensive volunteering program.
